Lucasfilm has released a new promo for The Mandalorian and Grogu featuring a roundtable which unexpectedly includes one of the movie’s stars, Grogu. The promo features director Jon Favreau, Star Pedro Pascal and his co-star puppet Grogu, alongside screen legend Sigourney Weaver.

It says ‘Grogu joins the conversation’. Though, as you’d guess, he does not. But you’ve gotta promote the current brand icon I guess?
The group talk about how the scale of the movie is far beyond the scope of the TV series that the characters spawned from. Pascal, who was on set more than he is for the TV series said it’s the most fun set he’s been on.
It’s a fairly safe little piece to remind everyone that the movie is really just around the corner. Whether it helps from a marketing perspective? Well, I’m not sure much has so far for this film.

The marketing strategy has been weird to say the least. The most recent trailer however was well received, but prior to that things were odd and it remains to be seen how well this film will do at the box office. Will it carry over that TV audience from the show? Instead, will this prove further evidence that Star Wars is simply no longer a special brand that draws in audiences?
We’ll know more a couple weeks after the May 11 release I guess?
