The Mandalorian Season 4 Production Reportedly Delayed Till November Due To Strike

The Mandalorian Season 4 production is delayed till November due to the WGA strike

Originally it was supposed to begin in September. However, a new report claims The Mandalorian Season 4 production is delayed till November due to the WGA strike. It was only a couple of weeks ago that Deadline ran a report saying it was highly likely that production on Season 4 would be delayed due to the WGA strike. As you likely know, the scripts for Season 4 have been written. However, given the pressure that was applied (wrongly) to Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy, when he had already stopped visiting the set, it’s not about completed scripts, but any writing that takes place.

Showrunner and head writer on The Mandalorian Jon Favreau is likely in solidarity with the WGA. Ergo, there is no point planning to start Season 4 until there is a sign of the strike ending.

Now Production Weekly in their latest issue reports that Mando S4 has been scheduled for November 2023. Normally I would at this point say Production Weekly are usually very solid. They are! However, I think without some foresight into how the strike will end, and when, it’s hard to be too confident. If the strike is still happening by the end of Summer (please, no), then further delays could surely happen?

I will also point out that one outlet is slightly dubious about this report. Bespin Bulletin who has a good hit rate for Star Wars leaks (not as good as PW though), are hearing something else. Two sources the site reached out denied that the production had moved to November. Here is what they had to say.

I reached out to two separate sources to ask for an update on planned filming for The Mandalorian season four or to see if they could confirm the November rumor. One source simply dismissed the claim and the other stressed to me that everything is on hold and likely would be until an agreement is made between the WGA and the studios. Emphasizing to me that there’s no planned timetable and reminding me of the possibility of the DGA strike.

That’s the Directors Guild if you didn’t know and there are portents. Honestly I have to say that the second source gives what is I think the most reasonable and best fitting scenario. Why put a hard plan in place until there is a sign of the WGA strike ending and the DGA strike not going ahead? Perhaps Lucasfilm has booked a slot at the studios in hope, without committing to it fully. I mean at one point it was September and that got delayed.

For now let’s just say that The Mandalorian Season 4 is penciled in for November, pending resolution of the strike/strikes.

To summarize, a new report claims The Mandalorian Season 4 production is delayed till November due to the WGA strike. However, it seems clear this all depends on how the land lies as we move closer to that date. If you have any thoughts, please leave them below in the usual spot.
