The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers Trailer Shows Plenty of Love for Fun and Hockey

Decades later, The Might Ducks certainly have plenty of love for losers to winners in a group of young hockey players.

Disney+’s The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers series has plenty of nostalgic feelings for the film franchise starring Emilio Estevez.

Estevez returns to the franchise since D3: The Mighty Ducks that was twenty-five years ago! This time around, he is a bitter former hockey coach, who owns an ice-skating rink without any hockey presence. Eating his days away on leftover pizzas and birthday cakes, a mother tries to form a youth hockey team with a bunch of inexperienced kids that may change his mind.

During the TCA (first time for Disney+), they released the official trailer and preview look into the new 10-part series of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. Emilio Estevez, Lauren Graham, original creator Steve Brill, showrunners Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa, and director Michael Spiller joined the panelists for the press.

The new series features many up-and-coming young actors, including Brady Noon, Maxwell Simkins, Swayam Bhatia, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Taegen Burns, Bella Higginbotham, and DJ Watts.

The series description is as follows:

The Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan Morrow (Noon) is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom, Alex (Graham), set out to build their own team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of youth sport today. With the help of Gordon Bombay (Estevez), they rediscover the joys of playing just for the love of the game.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers is a refreshing look at the pressure of competition versus having fun as kids. It’s a good answer to Netflix’s nostalgic series of Cobra Kai, in which parents and children can enjoy this series together. Not to mention, it’s quite a reversal that the young Mighty Ducks team are the quasi-villains against these misfits. Quite a role reversal.

The first episode premieres on Disney+ on Friday, March 26.
