Wait, is The New Mutants headed to Disney+? Not likely…at least not yet. 

What in the hell is going to happen to The New Mutants? Seriously, what’s going on with that movie? We know there are all sorts of movies that have consistent issues, but The New Mutants seems as though it’s a particular shade of cursed. It’s been finished for years now, was pushed back multiple times by Fox for unknown reasons. It was pushed back again when Disney acquired Fox, and has been pushed yet again thanks to COVID-19.

Like many people out there, I’ve been pretty vocal about wanting to see this film hit on streaming. I wanted it before COVID-19 happened, and I’m perpetually shocked that the pandemic didn’t push them to release the film on streaming services. To me, it showed they had tremendous faith in the movie, in spite of rumors. But now, after all these pushbacks, is The New Mutants actually hitting Disney+?

A new video surfaced online, and it seemed to show a Disney+ ad for the superhero horror flick. Check it out down below:

Looks legit enough, right? Well, Disney reps have told multiple outlets that the trailer is actually fan-made. There was tons of speculation already that this would be the case, as the footage is mostly recycled from other trailers, but it was still well done enough to fool some people.

All this being said, I don’t see this as any real confirmation that Disney will never release The New Mutants on the big screen. Given its lower budget and their need for content, it seems like a shoo-in. And that’s not even mentioning the fact that the film is a vestige of the former 20th Century Fox. Then again, perhaps they see the film as a way to capitalize on the low budget, high return nature of horror movies.

Regardless, I’m sure this isn’t the last we’ll hear a rumor surrounding The New Mutants and its streaming prospects. How do you want to watch the film? Do you prefer at home or in theaters? Sound off down below!
