The Official Trailer For Lightyear Has Been Released

Disney and Pixar’s Lightyear, the origin story from Toy Story character, Buzz Lightyear, is coming this Summer. Sometimes, remakes, prequels, sequels, and inspired by projects can fall flat, but there are some gems out there. After watching the teaser back in October, I felt this movie would be one of those gems. There are some low-hanging fruit out there and, luckily, director Angus MacLane looks like he put a lot of heart and soul into this movie. The official trailer for Lightyear is now out and it looks like so much fun. Check it out!

MacLane shared a few words on his upcoming movie:

Buzz’s world was always something I was excited about. In ‘Toy Story,’ there seemed to be this incredible backstory to him being a Space Ranger that’s only touched upon, and I always wanted to explore that world further. So my ‘Lighytear’ pitch was, ‘What was the movie that Andy saw that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy?’ I wanted to see that movie. And now I’m lucky enough to get to make it.

The cast for ‘Lightyear’ is truly a dream team. Each of the performers immediately inhabited their character, which gave us the opportunity to play a bit during recording sessions. This resulted in a level of specificity that elevated the material and brought additional depth to the characters’ relationships. It has been a privilege to work with such a talented and generous cast.

The official trailer for Lightyear is out now

I’m already enjoying Chris Evans in the role of Buzz. Also, I’m loving that the movie already gives off the “enjoy at any age” feeling. I haven’t even seen it yet, but I’ve got a good feeling. Some family movies can be so boring for adults and going to the theater for the kids can be painful. But as tempting as it might be, don’t sneak in a flask. You won’t need it for this movie anyway.

Joining Evans are Taika Waititi, Keke Palmer, and Dale Soules as the recruits and Peter Sohn as the cat robot companion, Sox. Check out this Space Ranger in action on June 17.
