There is a certain advantage of having former stuntmen in the director’s chair for action movies. They know the moves, choreography, and production. For director Kimani Ray Smithin The Painter, the stuntman-turned-director is following the footsteps of other directors with David Leitch and Chad Stahelski.
The Painter is definitely a kick-ass and take no prisoner film that stars Charlie Weber (How to Get Away with Murder) in the lead role as a former CIA operative taken out of retirement after a young unknown woman walked into his life.
The film also stars Jon Voight (Coming Home), Madison Bailey (Outer Banks), and Marie Avgeropoulos (The 100). The screenplay was written by Brian Buccellato.
Here is the full synopsis:
An ex-CIA operative turned painter is thrown back into a dangerous world when a mysterious woman from his past resurfaces. Now exposed and targeted by a relentless killer and a rogue black ops program, he must rely on skills he thought he left behind in a high-stakes game of survival.
