The Penguin showrunner Lauren LeFranc is in talks with DC Studios to produce their in-development Poison Ivy series. The Poison Ivy series was rumored and as far as we knew should be connected to The Batman Universe from Matt Reeves and not the DCU. In fact it has ben rumored strongly that Scarlett Johansson is playing a grounded version of Posion Ivy in The Batman: Part II.
However, it now seems like this series is not actually set in the same Universe as The Batman after all.
As per Deadline,
‘The Penguin showrunner and executive producer Lauren LeFranc is in talks to join the new Poison Ivy-focused TV series from Warner Bros. and DC Comics as a producer, sources reveal to Deadline.’
‘We have been tracking the project for many months, as plans to move forward were on pause due to the Paramount and Warner Bros. merger. The latest news is that LeFranc would only be producing the new series and not writing the expansion of the DC Comics character’s story. There are currently no writers attached. Additionally, the TV series, which would go to HBO if it gets picked up, would not be part of Matt Reeves’ Batman Universe, which is led by Robert Pattinson playing the caped crusader from Gotham City, sources say.’

It is rather confusing to say the least. Now one must wonder if the rumors of ScarJo being Ivy in The Batman: Part II were wide of the mark? It would have made so much sense with LeFranc doing such stellar work in the same universe with The Penguin.
Oh well, should we assume this is DCU then or something completely on it’s own? I can’t get my head around it being unconnected to either, so I assume it’s DCU.
What do you think of this news and are you as blindsided as I am by the word it’s not connected to Matt Reeves Batman Universe? Thoughts below.
