‘The Revenant’ Returns To IMAX For 10th Anniversary Celebration

Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s visceral survival epic The Revenant is heading back to the big screen and this time, it’s going bigger than ever. In celebration of the film’s 10th anniversary, 20th Century Studios will re-release New Regency’s Academy Award® winning drama exclusively in select IMAX theaters nationwide on Thursday, February 26, and Sunday, March 1.

The limited engagement gives audiences a rare opportunity to experience The Revenant as it was meant to be seen: on towering IMAX screens with thunderous sound design that fully immerses viewers in the film’s unforgiving natural world. The re-release will also roll out internationally in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico, underscoring the film’s lasting global impact.

Originally released in 2015, The Revenant became both a critical and commercial triumph, earning more than $532 million worldwide and cementing itself as one of the defining cinematic achievements of the decade. The film went on to win three Academy Awards®, including Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio, Best Director for Iñárritu, and Best Cinematography for Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki, whose natural-light visuals helped redefine modern filmmaking.

Starring DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, The Revenant is inspired by real events and follows a 19th-century frontiersman left for dead after a brutal bear attack. Battling extreme weather, injury, and isolation, he claws his way through a merciless wilderness, driven by survival and the need to avenge the murder of his son. The screenplay was written by Mark L. Smith and Iñárritu, based in part on Michael Punke’s novel, and produced by Steve Golin, Iñárritu, Arnon Milchan, and Mary Parent.

The anniversary re-release arrives as DiCaprio once again finds himself in the awards conversation, thanks to his latest performance in One Battle After Another, making this celebration feel especially timely.

In addition to the IMAX return, fans and collectors can mark the milestone with The Making of The Revenant, a lavish new book from Insight Editions created in partnership with New Regency. Limited to just 500 numbered copies, the collector’s edition is signed by Iñárritu, DiCaprio, and Lubezki. Copies numbered 1–150 make up a premium Signed Print Edition available for preorder now featuring an exclusive 16” x 20” giclée print signed by DiCaprio.

Housed in a bespoke clamshell box, the clothbound set includes two hardcover volumes, a facsimile of the shooting script, and a rare reproduction of Iñárritu’s original photography book created as a wrap gift for cast and crew. Written by New York Times bestselling author and entertainment journalist Gina McIntyre, the book offers an in-depth look at the film’s grueling production, creative ambition, and elemental brutality through extensive behind-the-scenes photography and commentary.

A decade later, The Revenant remains as punishing, powerful, and unforgettable as ever and its return to IMAX is the perfect way to relive one of modern cinema’s most uncompromising masterpieces.
