Hot on the heels of Disney’s announcement that Frozen 2 would be hitting Disney+ three months early, LucasFilm (and Disney) have decided to let you BUY The Rise of Skywalker a few days early on participating digital platforms. The movie was originally set to hit digital shelves on March 17th, but thankfully(?) you don’t have to wait until then, you can get it now.
There’s no doubt The Rise of Skywalker left a lot of fans scratching their heads (don’t worry the novelization and a five issue comic book fill in all the blanks… mostly) and is not high on this writer’s “to buy” list. I do expect to watch the film one more time, on Bluray (I am a sucker for big SFX films uncompressed on physical media) to decide how I finally feel about it, the sequel trilogy, and the entire Skywalker saga as a whole.

No matter how you felt about the film, it was a success in making $1.074 billion worldwide. Yes, that is a steep decline from the previous two films, and the first time the third Star Wars film in a trilogy made less than its predecessor, but a financial success nonetheless.
