It’s been a minute since we’ve talked about the Oscars. When last we heard, they still hadn’t locked down a host, and with the ceremony just a couple short weeks away, the clock is really ticking, and hopefully, those rumors of them getting a whole bunch of A-list actors to pass the baton throughout the night for different segments.

This all came to pass after Kevin Hart stepped down following the controversy surrounding old tweets (such a common story these days). There was a scramble to find a replacement, but ultimately, no one really wanted to take on the job because, quite frankly, it’s a really tough one that almost no one really appreciates. One film critic, however, thought they had a stroke of brilliance. Why not hire Dwayne Johnson to take on the gig? After all, NO ONE has a problem with The Rock.

Well, The Rock responded to this tweet by revealing he’d already been offered hosting duties by the Oscars.

“Ah mahalo dude, I was their first choice to host this year, and my goal was to make it the most fun and entertaining Oscars ever. We all tried hard, but couldn’t make it work since I’m shooting Jumanji. Academy and I were super bummed but maybe one day down the road 🥃”

However, it does sound like if it weren’t for his production schedule he would have actually been up for it. Perhaps some other year this would be a definite possibility. Though, I wouldn’t necessarily count on Johnson’s schedule opening any time soon. The dude is notorious for being a workaholic and pushing himself to the limit, so I can’t foresee any instance where it opens up long enough to accommodate hosting duties. He’ll likely be too busy saving the planet from an asteroid on the big screen.
