The Russos Clarify The Secret Wars Situation

Filmmaking siblings the Russos clarify the Secret Wars situation in a recent interview with Josh Horowitz for Happy Sad Confused. It’s been well publicized that the Russos have said they’d be willing to come back into the MCU to make a Secret Wars movie. Most fans have always assumed that Secret Wars will happen. That the Russos already have the nod when it comes up. However, the brothers claim this is not the case.

Check out the excerpt posted to social media by Horowitz below. There you will see both Russo brothers saying that when they have been asked this question in the past, all they have ever done is tell the truth. They would come back for Secret Wars because it was one of their favorite Marvel events growing up. However they point out that no conversations have yet taken place, and that there is nothing already planned in advance.

In other words, don’t get your hopes up that Secret Wars gets announced at SDCC or anything. Personally I’m not sure I’d necessarily believe all of what the Russos say. For all we know when Endgame ran its course Feige promised the guys they could come back for Secret Wars if and when they got there? However I do believe them that no official conversations have taken place.

After all, Marvel would be crazy not to give the Russos Secret Wars at some point, right? Given the current Multiversal stories, most fans think Secret Wars will be coming eventually. It’s absolutely possible to pivot the overall story away from that. However, with the Multiverse, and the impending arrival of Doctor Doom and Fantastic Four, it does seem like the next few years will see Secret Wars in development.

What do you think as the Russos clarify the Secret Wars situation? As always, leave it below or over on Discord.
