2019 was the year Warner Bros. saw another financial success with its origin story of one of DC’s most infamous creations. On a budget of just under $60 million–which in the world of superheroes and comic book movies is seen as a low budget film–Joker raked in over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Additionally, the film achieved this feat without ever releasing in China, a massive market second only to North America.
