Who would have thought that the family of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie we met in back in the 90’s would have become a cultural phenomenon and would still be relevant almost thirty years later. During it’s run as the longest running prime time scripted show in television history, The Simpsons have received countless awards that include 33 Emmy Awards, 34 Annie Awards, 7 People’s Choice, 12 Writers Guild of America Awards and even have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But who would have thought that they would even be owned by Disney?

Well with Disney acquiring FOX we know that this in fact did happen and now the hundreds of classic Simpsons episodes will soon be available on Disney’s upcoming streaming service, Disney+. Today D23 also announced that Springfield’s favorite family will be making their D23 Expo debut at the Anaheim Convention Center on August 23rd-25th.

To give you a look at their upcoming season, on August 24th, they will be hosting a panel at the D23 Expo Area that will include the creator Matt Groening, executive producer Al Jean, executive producer Matt Selman, supervising director Mike B. Anderson and stars Nancy Cartwright and Yeardley Smith. They say to expect surprises and a Simpsons collectible item for everyone in attendance.

Also during the Expo fans in attendance will have the opportunity to get up and personal with The Simpsons family on the convention floor. A lucky few will even have the opportunity to meet Groening and the rest of the present stars during a one hour autograph signing session of an exclusive mini-poster.

With the huge fan base that The Simpsons have it’s a smart move by Disney to make them a focal point at D23 Expo. We’ll see when the time comes what they have planned for them in the near future.
