The Super Mario Bros. Movie Trailer Introduces Us To A Very Familiar Beloved Cast

The Super Mario Bros. Movie

We now have the official trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. About a month ago the partnership that is Nintendo, Illumination, and Universal released our first look at the animated film of one of video games’ most beloved characters. The one and only Super Mario voiced by Chris Pratt. But it gave us only a glimpse of our hero as it focused on the villain of the franchise, Bowser, voiced by Jack Black.

Today’s trailer gave us a better look at not only Mario but some of the other characters around him that are also iconic over at Nintendo. Check out the trailer below! Also, check out the character posters that were also released by Universal.

There is so much to gaze upon in the trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie trailer. First off, we get a good look at some of the players in the film. This includes Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, and Bowser. I think for me my favorite part was seeing the Fire Flowers in action, which was my favorite boost in the games.

My second favorite part, and believe me it’s a close second, was the fact that the film is going to include Mario Kart Racing! Specifically, the fact that we see our characters on seemingly Rainbow Road. I got a good laugh at the Cheep Cheeps (the fish) as they were always a pain for me in the video games. Last but not least it looks like we are going to see Yoshi at some point. Overall it looks like a fun version of the Mario we know and love. The environments look like a good blend between a 3D world and the 2D world that we are used to seeing.

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (collaborators on Teen Titans Go!, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel. The film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach. Charlie Day as Luigi. Jack Black as Bowser. Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

The film is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and by Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo. The film will be co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo and released worldwide by Universal Pictures.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be released ion April 7, 2023.
