The trailer for Andy Serkis’ adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book novel, Mowgli, has been released. The film, which has been four years in the making is another take on the classic story. While Serkis has directed one other film, 2017’s Breathe, which starred former Spider-Man Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy, Mogli will be his first big budget film in the director’s chair.

It is unusual to have two adaptations of the same story released so close together. Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book was released just over two years ago. However, Serkis wants to set his take on the story apart, the word is his version will take on a darker tone than Favreau’s, and the trailer seems to confirm that idea. I believe there is room for Serkis’ take on Mowgli’s story, the film looks good as well as having an all-star cast.

As mentioned above, Andy Serkis directed the film from a screenplay by Kallie Cloves. Serkis will also play the part of Baloo the bear in the film. The film stars Rohan Chand as the titular character Mowgli, as well as Cate Blanchett as Kaa, Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan, and Christian Bale as Bagheera.
