There’s a new supernatural thriller on the way, and it’s set to star Natalie Dormer. Dormer is best known for her work in the acclaimed HBO series Game of Thrones, and has also appeared in the blockbuster film franchise The Hunger Games. Her new film, The Forest, is set to arrive in theaters in a few months. Read more about the real-life setting for this thriller after viewing the trailer below.

You can see the trailer for it right here:

A supernatural thriller set in the legendary Aokigahara Forest. A young American woman, Sara (Natalie Dormer), goes in search of her twin sister, who has mysteriously disappeared. Despite everyone’s warnings to “stay on the path,” Sara enters the forest determined to discover the truth about her sister’s fate.

It should be noted that the reason that the real-life setting of the Aokigahara Forest is so legendary is because it’s known as a place where people go to end their lives. One of its nicknames, unsurprisingly, is “Suicide Forest.” It’s a place known in Japanese mythology for having demonic associations. Seems like a setting pretty rife for a thriller such as this.

The Forest, written by David S. Goyer, Nick Antosca, and Sarah Cornwell, comes out on January 8th.
