AMC’s The Walking Dead has cast its Alpha character. Actress Samantha Morton who is perhaps best known for her role in Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, will be the one to play Alpha. One of the more well loved villains from the comics will finally make her highly anticipated arrival to the series.

Those who read the comics know that with Alpha, come the Whisperers, as she is their leader. The Whisperers use the skins of walkers to disguise themselves. They were first introduced in issue #130.

I would assume the show runners know the state of the show as far as the way a good number of fans currently feel about it, and they are bringing in Alpha as sort of a desperation move, now that is purely speculation on my part, they could have had her Season 9 arrival planned all along.

This wouldn’t be a Walking Dead article if I didn’t mention how the show has become more and more difficult to watch over the last couple of seasons. What was once quality television has felt more like a chore recently. With both Lauren Cohan and Andrew Lincoln leaving the show at some point in Season 9, one has to wonder if this may be The Walking Dead‘s last ride.
