Earlier this month, the Kickstarter officially ended for The Way Of Kings. Marking the tenth anniversary of the novel’s publication, Brandon Sanderson’s first volume of The Stormlight Archive would continue the tradition of getting a leatherbound edition. The Kickstarter had the original goal of $250,000. While fans of Sanderson likely expected it to surpass that goal, its over $6.7 million haul took everyone off guard.

Luckily for fans, Sanderson has surrounded himself with a great team to help him execute the promised product along with the countless extra stretch goal perks. Throughout the process of the Kickstarter, we have gotten about a dozen updates, but even beyond it, they have been great about keeping fans in the loop. Today, Dragonsteel Entertainment posted another big update.

For starters, they gave readers a peek at the leatherbound books in production. They showed off a photo featuring the gold-colored satin bookmarks and the gilded edges of the pages. If book porn is your thing, you can eat your heart out.

But that wasn’t all. In addition to the image, they also gave an update on the timeline. I won’t get into every single aspect of the timeline (it’s fairly extensive), but there are some important aspects worth repeating. Between October and December, the first wave of The Way of Kings leatherbound edition will ship out. Also within this time, Dawnshard, the Stormlight novella, will be completed, and the ebook distributed.

Also, from December through early 2021, Dawnshard and The Way of Kings Prime hardcovers should be shipped. Of course, there are many different layers to this timeline, and for a more specific one, I recommend checking the full update HERE.
