The Wheel Of Time Season 2 Finally Gets Premiere Date

A new The Wheel of Time Season 2 teaser scene is available and has been added to Season 1 on Amazon Prime.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 finally gets a premiere date after pretty much radio silence. Season 2 will premiere on Amazon Prime on September 1st as revealed by EW‘s new exclusive article. The article also has many stills from Season 2, but as it’s an exclusive we cannot share them. Feel free to check the source link above and take a gander for yourselves though.

Fans have been wondering when Season 2 was going to drop for quite some time. Season 3 of The Wheel of Time is already filming and it has been almost 2 years since Season 1 first aired. Well, I guess we know now.

The trade also gave a brief rundown of where things stand in Season 2.

Having learned that he is in fact the Dragon Reborn, Rand has gone into hiding so that he won’t harm his friends if he descends into madness like previous incarnations of the Dragon did. His mentor, Moiraine, has now lost her connection to the One Power, and her emotional relationship with Lan (Daniel Henney) along with it. While Moiraine returns to her hometown of Cairhien, Egwene (Madeleine Madden) and Nynaeve (Zoë Robins) begin their Aes Sedai training in order to learn how to control their own access to the One Power.

There are also new faces to meet in season 2. Mat Cauthon has been recast, with Dónal Finn taking over the role from Barney Harris. And as teased at the end of season 1, soldiers of the Seanchan Empire have arrived from across the sea in order to conquer their ancestral homeland.

I did find one part of this article slightly misleading. The article stats that Season 2 will mostly cover the second book of the series, The Great Hunt. That it will only touch on some of the other books. However, we know from comments by showrunner Rafe Judkins that Season 2 will also handle the bulk of Book 3 titled The Dragon Reborn. The plan as far as Judkins is concerned was to have Season 3 deal with mostly book 4, The Shadow Rising. That book is rated as one of, if not the, best in the series and it’s where the story really takes off.

Just as season 1 covered The Eye of the World, the first novel in Robert Jordan’s book series, season 2 will mostly cover the next book, The Great Hunt — but don’t be surprised to see some elements from other books as well, since the show only has eight episodes per season to tell this massive story.

Semantics perhaps? Either way I’m interested to see if this show will improve in Season 2. Season 1 did some things better than even the book did. However, they also made an absolute mess of the ending to Season 1. I’m therefore curious more than hyped at this point.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 finally gets a premiere date. Season 2 will premiere on Amazon Prime on September 1st. As always, let us know what you think of this news and whether you are excited to see Season 2 of The Wheel of Time.
