Has The Wheel of Time series resumed filming?

Like many productions, The Wheel of Time was unceremoniously halted back in March thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Given the scale of the project, the huge cast, and the immense crew needed, it’s no surprise. After all, the disease spreads more easily in large crowds, so studios have to work hard to ensure the safety of their cast and crew. In the months since then, studios have put in new regulations and safety requirements, and we’ve seen many big shows and films return to production.

But when would The Wheel of Time return? As mentioned above, it likely poses an increased risk due to its scale. Well, if we’re to believe a new rumor, production has commenced starting today. The report comes courtesy of the fansite WoTSeries.

The outlet claims to have obtained documents that confirm the show’s continuation of filming in the Czech Republic. They go on to claim that filming will continue for four or five days, though we don’t know where filming will go next. While they can’t confirm specific actors or characters involved, they go on to say that the filming will involve horses. Plus, based on the location’s trails and adjacent meadows, they speculate the in-series location to be around Fal Dara or the Blight.

Sadly, we cannot confirm whether or not this is the case. There has been no official announcement from Amazon, nor has there been any other corroborating evidence. So, as with all rumors, be sure to take it with a grain of salt. But who knows? We may see some set photos surface in the days to come.

If true, I’m sure fans will be doubly excited. The Wheel of Time is set for an unspecified 2021 release, and if filming picks up soon and isn’t shut down, we can expect it to keep that date. Given the boom of fantasy we are in the early stages of, I am sure Amazon Prime Video is keen to get the ball rolling on what will likely be one of their most popular shows.
