Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes, aka. The Winter Soldier, in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, is making the rounds promoting CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. While most of Marvel’s oeuvre is comprised of lightweight fun, there’s long been a feeling that CIVIL WAR is going to be a game changer. Stan added further fuel to that feeling in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.
The actor, without revealing anything specific, hints that the film is going to mark a tragic turning point in the MCU. “I think it’s going to be an epic experience for people,” Stan told ET. “I’m very excited for people to hear and see what side everybody ends up on, ’cause it gets a little… heartbreaking.“
This comes on the heels of test-screening reactions, where folks who’ve seen the film warn that the film’s final act is an “emotional horror movie.” The film’s directors, Joe and Anthony Russo have also come out and said that the film’s conclusion is “dramatic” and “controversial.” There are rumors of a major character (or two) being killed, and talk that the writing is gut-wrenching for fans of these characters because you can honestly see the central conflict from both sides.
We’ll just have to wait and see. CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR comes outs on May 6.
I’ll be there the night before. How about you?
