A new rumor that The Witcher Season 2 will resume filming this August? Read on for more details.
When the Coronavirus pandemic started, one of the productions which had to stop was Netflix’s The Witcher Season 2. I loved The Witcher, suddenly I’m thinking there is no way we will see Season 2 for a long time. The shoot was scheduled to run for around 4-5 Months, with an expected release date sometime in late-summer of 2021. Any delays would surely push that release date out further, which would be a bummer? But there is hope.
According to Redanian Intelligence, their sources have informed them that filming is set to resume on The Witcher Season 2 in the first week of August. Now, this is still just a rumor, because it’s not coming from Netflix or The Witcher production team. However, I genuinely have yet to see this outlet post news about The Witcher which didn’t checked out. In other words, this is about as sure a thing as rumors go, but a rumor it remains. Incidentally it also matches with some of the official word that has come out, indicating some work still to be done before resumption of filming.

The outlet also goes on to say that the Platige Image, who do VFX work on The Witcher are still working to a July, 2021 deadline. The VFX house previously had a deadline of November on Season 1 of The Witcher, which then hit Netflix in December. That gives us a probable release date for The Witcher Season 2 of August or September, 2021. But, that was prior to the Coronavirus delays.
If filming starts in August of this year and runs for 4-5 Months, then it should be completed around January, 2021. However, that shoot time might not be taking new work practices into consideration? We are still in a Coronavirus pandemic and it is expected all productions will have to follow new guidelines previously not a concern. Could the shoot time for The Witcher Season 2 then be extended as a result? It’s not an answer anyone outside of the production team has at this time, I’m afraid.
All in all, It’s highly likely that The Witcher Season 2 will resume filming in August. If I had to guess, I’d say The Witcher Season 2 will arrive around late-August to early-September of next year. If you force my hand further I’d guess at early September for Season 2. However, that really is just a guess based on the information above.
