The Witcher: Set Visit Description Previews Important Scene For The Series

Surprising news over the weekend folks. Henry Cavill leaves The Witcher after Season 3 and will be replaced as Geralt by Liam Hemsworth.

December 20th sees the arrival of The Witcher on Netflix, and it is a show I can wait to get started on being a fan of the games and a few of the earlier books I’ve had the chance to read so far. It’s hard to say what The Witcher is about, because I don’t think it’s about any one thing. Instead it may be better to think of the premise in simple terms; that a mutated and somewhat superhuman monster hunter (Henry Cavill) gets caught up with politics, destiny, and love, as his life begins to revolve around two women, his lover Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and their adopted daughter Cirilla (Freya Allan).

Recently a Polish website called RMF24 published an article about their set visit to the filming of The Witcher. The description they provide (Translated by RedanianIntelligence.com) may well be describing one of the most important, and early in the timeline events to happen on the new show. Check out the description below.

We pass a giant canteen and we are going to meet the creators of the series. We enter the interior of the giant hall. A huge model of the castle’s interior was built in it. In the background, you can hear songs. It is dark and quite cold. Dozens of people are on the set, but it’s very quiet. We sit down behind small screens, we have an accurate view of what is happening on the set. Director Alex Garcia Lopez gives directions to actors.

One more try before filming. Then another try. Finally, the command is given: “Silence on the set. Action.” The wedding scene of Pavetta and the Urcheon of Erlenwald is created. The Witcher appears on the set. Henry Cavill is in a great mood. He makes sure which scene is being created, standing next to Jaskier, played by Joey Batey. Taking a short break, he pretends to take a selfie. Someone trips over the props. “It’s a bit dark here,” comments Cavill. The director asks for silence on the set.

Also here are the notes on this translation made by Redanianintelligence.com themselves.

There are two key takeaways from this description. The first one is, that there will be a wedding between Pavetta (Gaia Mondadori) and the Urcheon of Erlenwald (Bard Edwards), likely in the same episode as the fateful events of A Question of Price. The second and more surprising one is that Joey Batey‘s Jaskier will be present during the scene, confirming what fans have suspected after seeing his character hanging out with other cast members in the image above. Will he be joining the banquet’s already impressive ensemble of bards, competing with the likes of Ross Telfer’s Draig Bon Dhu?

Ok, so essentially the story that is being described here, is the reason that Ciri ends up with Geralt in the first place, though, this is before she was even born. As the outlet says, this all comes from a short story called A Question of Price. Now, I’m not going to describe it you here, that would be unnecessary spoilers, but clearly it features an important wedding between Pavetta and the Urcheon of Erlenwald, but I won’t say too much else for those that don’t already know this story, as there are set to be a few surprises in here for audiences.

The main point is that this all seems like it will be very early on in the timeline of the show, perhaps even the first two episodes if I was to guess, but then I’m not sure at which point they will decide to begin the story. I think, and I hope that this is going to turn out pretty well. Guess it won’t be long now till we find out?

Any Witcher fans here excited to see this play out, and for those that don’t know The Witcher are you interested enough to give this a shot? Share your thoughts in the comments box below.
