There’s Been Talk Of An Ant-Man 3, Michael Douglas Says

Marvel Studios hasn’t really had any box office failures apart from maybe The Incredible Hulk back in 2008 — and even that film managed to be pretty well received by critics. With that in mind, they’ve never really had a problem in locking down sequels for their movies, and as of this writing, apart from Hulk, there have been no films with zero sequel prospects or sequels period.

This includes Ant-Man, a modestly successful movie that managed to break $500 million at the box office. It wasn’t a smash hit, but it was enough to lock down a sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, which outperformed it with a worldwide gross of $622.7 million. But given the movie’s reported $162 million budget, is this enough to push forward conversations for a sequel?

One of the stars, Michael Douglas, spoke with ET Online and revealed that there have been conversations.

“There’s been talk [about another Ant-Man]… [but] there’s been nothing formal right now that I know of,” he said during a Television Critics Association set visit to his Netflix show, The Kominsky Method. They always kind of spring it on me. The first time you hear about it, it’s already in its third rewrite.”

Very interesting, but of course, when last we saw Douglas’ character Hank Pym, he had dissolved into dust along with his daughter and wife Hope and Janet. So what can he say about his character’s fate following Avengers: Endgame?

“You know I can’t say a word about that. They have one of those machines that, as soon as you say the word ‘Avengers,’ a blowgun comes to the side of my neck.”

So, we’ll just be left waiting until that film comes out. But what do you think of potentially getting another Ant-Man film? Is the character worth visiting for a third time, or has his and Hope’s story already been told? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments! You can also follow me on Twitter at @JAMTheWriter!
