J.A. Bayona is a director that’s about to make that vaunted leap from smaller, more intimate films to full-fledged blockbusters when he helms Jurassic World 2. But before we get to see where he takes the dino franchise, we’ll get another example of what the Spanish filmmaker brings to the table when A Monster Calls comes out in January.
Below you’ll find a clip from A Monster Calls that is visually decadent, and demonstrates Bayona’s abilities rather well. Check it out:
Conor (Lewis MacDougall) is dealing with far more than other boys his age. His beloved and devoted mother (Felicity Jones) is ill. He has little in common with his imperious grandmother. His father has resettled thousands of miles away. But Conor finds a most unlikely ally when the Monster (Liam Neeson) appears at his bedroom window one night. Ancient, wild, and relentless, the Monster guides Conor on a journey of courage, faith, and truth that powerfully fuses imagination and reality.
A Monster Calls arrives on January 6.
