Last night we saw the next episode of the final chapter of NBC’s This is Us. One thing that we had mentioned in a previous piece is how the series is able to show us multiple places in the Pearson’s family life. From seeing the Pearson’s kids as children to seeing them each juggle with their adult responsibilities. One part of the story that has always been a bit challenging is the future relationship of Rebecca and Miguel Rivas.
In This Is Us, Jon Huertas plays Miguel Rivas. He was the best friend of Rebecca’s first husband, Jack. Then later Miguel becomes Rebecca’s second husband. One of the questions that often comes up is if this reunion of the two can be seen as a betrayal? Being that they were so close to Jack, how could they then become a couple? Or one can argue that it’s because of how much they cared for Jack, it was easy for them to come together and move on with their lives.

Here is the synopsis for This Is Us
Everyone has a family. And every family has a story. “This Is Us” chronicles the Pearson family across the decades: from Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) as young parents in the 1980s to their kids (the big three), Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) searching for love and fulfillment in the present day along with Toby (Chris Sullivan) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson). This grounded, life-affirming dramedy reveals how the tiniest events in our lives impact who we become, and how the connections we share with each other can transcend time, distance and even death.
NBC’s This is Us can be seen Tuesdays at 9/8c
