Holy Crap.
Okay, let me start by stating that I’ve been a “Nintendo guy” since I was 4. My parents got me the NES when I was four, and I’ve owned every piece of hardware they’ve put out since (save for the Virtual Boy. Because…Virtual Boy). I was even one of those people who camped out outside of Nintendo World in Rockefeller Center to get the Wii.
And yet…I was going to pass on Nintendo Switch.
Yeah, it looked pretty cool and interesting. I dug the announcement trailer. But considering I don’t game as often as I used to (having two kids will do that to you), and the fact that I think I played my Wii U for a grand total of 37 minutes, I had resigned myself to the idea that the Switch would be the first time I passed on a new Nintendo console.
And then this morning I saw this new trailer for Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild:
It’s like I’ve died and gone to heaven.
The game looks visually stunning, but what really grabbed me was the sheer size and scope of this adventure they’re inviting us all to go on. The world looks massive, but so does the story.
Considering my #1 game of all time, throughout my 29 years as a gamer, remains The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, this next entry in the series looks like it has to be mine.
So I guess I’ll be buying myself as Nintendo Switch, after all…
