Thor: Love And Thunder – Deleted Scenes, Emotional Comedy And Crazy Four Hour Cuts

Thor: Love And Thunder - Deleted Scenes, Emotional Comedy And Crazy Four Hour Cuts Waititi

With the release of Thor: Love and Thunder almost upon us, the stars and director talk Deleted scenes, emotional comedy, and a crazy four hour cut in recent interviews with Collider. First up is Christian Bale who plays Gorr the God Butcher, the antagonist of the movie.

Bale confirms that an awful lot of material was left on the cutting room floor. Additionally,  some of it was some weird stuff. Though he also talks about how Waititi blends the emotional and the comedy elements together.

“There’s an awful lot that I wish was in this film, which you can’t have a four-hour long film because there’s so much gold that’s on the cutting room floor, hilarious stuff, and creepy as hell stuff, but that was perhaps pushing it to a realm where maybe it wouldn’t have been able to be family friendly, which we always wanted it to be.”

In a separate interview with Collider, Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth talk about a bats**t crazy four hour cut of the movie. However much of what was fun to shoot, didn’t end up working for the movie says Waititi.

WAITITI: “It was about four hours. And a lot of time on set … We were talking about this before, like when, in the moment, you’re like, “This is the greatest thing that anyone’s ever filmed in the history of filming things.” And you get into the edit. You’re like, “I still kind of like it.” And then, after about six months of it being in the movie, you realize it was fun on the day but it doesn’t have any business being in the movie.”

HEMSWORTH: “Batshit crazy, wild, four-hour cut I’ve ever seen.”

WAITITI: “Yeah.”

The pair go into a little more detail if you check the link above. How that early assembly cut was just full of situations where the story was abandoned for long stretches to tell jokes. They also joke that one day it should be released as the “Anybody’s Cut”, given that the director’s cut is the one we will see on screen.

What do you think as the Thor: Love and Thunder stars talk deleted scenes, emotional comedy and four hour cuts? Would you be interested in seeing just a crazy early cut of Thor: Love and Thunder one day? A cut that’s basically unedited and rough as hell? I’d watch that, maybe not as a movie experience. However I’d watch it once and just see where their crazy brains went at times. It would be cool.

Let us know your thoughts below, or over on Discord. Thor: Love and Thunder Release in the U.S on July 8th, but slightly earlier in some international territories.
