Thor: Love And Thunder Set To Film This August Barring Complications From Australia’s Fire Tragedy

Thor: Love And Thunder Merch Shows Gorr Plus Character Descriptions

I have to say that I wasn’t that into either of the first two Thor movies, they were just, ok for me, but I absolutely loved Thor: Ragnarok, it was just a perfect blend of style, humor, and fun for me. Therefore I am definitely looking forward to seeing what director Taiki Waititi does with the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, which is set to release on November 5th next year.

Variety managed to catch up with Waititi recently and asked him when the movie was due to begin filming. You can catch the full interview below, but here is the TLDW of it. Waititi said he and his crew are due to arrive in Australia in April to prep, with filming set to begin in August. However, Waititi was understandably concerned with the situation in Australia right now, with wildfires raging across the country uncontrolled. It is theoretically possible that this national crisis could have an effect on the production start date. Though to be fair, by the time the movie is due to film it is the middle of Winter in Australia. However, right now, of course, the least of anyone’s concern is about possible delays for this movie, as lives are being lost every day to the worst wildfires in recent history. Worryingly, temperatures are due to go up across the next month before things begin to cool down again.

Thor: Love and Thunder will feature almost the same cast from Ragnarok, but with the addition of Natalie Portman who will play a very different version of Jane Foster this time around. As far as we know, we should not be expecting Bruce Banner to show up this time, but who knows for sure at this point? The movie may well be dealing with the comic storyline where Jane Foster gets Cancer, but director Taiki Waititi was still unsure when he spoke with ComingSoon.net back in October.

“There’s nothing funnier than cancer. Even now I’m not sure if we’re going to continue with that storyline. I really like it. The way the stories develop at Marvel is ever-changing. We know we’ve got Jane Foster, and that’s cool as it is. I personally like the storyline where she’s fighting this illness and the whole thing with her choosing between fighting that and becoming a god. That’s cool, but it always changes. Between now and when we shoot it’s gonna change. As it did with ‘Ragnarok’! We kept changing it while we were shooting. (laughs) ‘Let’s reshoot this thing because now guess what the villain wants?’ But I did love that storyline.”

Waititi is a very interesting writer/director to me and his episode of The Mandalorian was, in my opinion, the best of the entire Season 1. I can’t wait to see what craziness he offers up with Thor: Love and Thunder, let’s just hope Australia get their issues under control sooner rather than later for a multitude of reasons.
