This movie has been a long time coming. It’s really hard to get a movie made, and you can only imagine it’s even harder when you have a legacy of movies to follow. Not only that, with Zack Snyder’s own take on the Batman in the DCEU falling under constant scrutiny from fans, you know DC and filmmaker Matt Reeves really want to get it right. Well, after years of waiting, the movie is now officially in production.
In the past, we knew that a January start date was likely, but in the world of production, everything can change at the drop of a hat. But in case you were worried that this movie would never get in front of cameras, fret no more, as one of its stars, Jeffrey Wright, confirmed as such a couple of days ago.

Woke up jet lagged at 10pm thinking I was late. 4:45am now. Off to Gotham.🦇

In addition to Wright’s post, we had some posts from London locals, who had their ordinary days interrupted by some odd-looking production props in their way.

However, perhaps what is most notable are a series of images from Wade Gravett on Twitter, where we see what looks to be a blond-haired Colin Farrell holding an umbrella. That’s right, we may have had our first look at his Penguin.
Is this London or Gotham…..?

All in all, it looks like your average film set, but after all these years, and Ben Affleck getting bumped as director and then lead role, it’s nice to see a steady hand behind the wheel at long last. While it hasn’t been long since we’ve seen Batman on the big screen, it’s been a while since he’s been in his own standalone movie, and I’m itching to see it happen again.
