Thor: Love And Thunder - Deleted Scenes, Emotional Comedy And Crazy Four Hour Cuts Waititi

You clicked this link because you want some Thor: Love and Thunder story details that appeared on merchandise for the movie. If you clicked by accident then you’ll see by the headline we have Love and Thunder SPOILERS here. So, I’d suggest you stop reading now, if that’s not your thing?

For the rest of you? Some more precise story details emerged on a new collectible Mighty Thor Helm. Eaglemoss has a description for the item online which reads as follows.

‘Suffering from cancer, astrophysicist and Thor’s ex-girlfriend,Jane Foster, visited New Asgard and her life was changed forever. Mysteriously, the broken pieces of Mjolnir, the hammer of the thunder god, transformed her into the Mighty Thor and gifted her the superpowers of Thor, to battle threats internal and external. Wielding Mjolnir herself, she had become a godly protector and a new hero was born!’

Given the comic history, and a few rumors, we kinda already knew this movie would go with the cancer story. However this is the first semi-official confirmation of that plot point. Back when Love and Thunder was first announced director Taika Waititi had claimed he was as yet undecided whether to go that route with the story. That was of course, before the script was finalized. It now seems certain this is what will fuel Jane’s arc in the movie.

This description also matches set photos from the principal shoot in Australia. In those BTS images which we covered it was shown that Jane went through some kind of change. With special effects still to be added this happened whilst in New Asgard. As fans suspected at the time, it seems that Jane is transformed by the shards of Mjolnir.

I’ve seen a few fans get excited by the fact Jane has cancer, which is kinda weird to say and type. ‘OMG I’m so excited they gave Jane cancer’. Yet, I can totally see the sentiment and since Jane is a fictional character we really don’t have to worry about hurting her feelings by enjoying the fact she has cancer. The point from fans was that without this aspect of Jane’s arc, it’ just Jane getting superpowers for no tangible reason.

What do you think of the Thor: Love and Thunder story details from this merchandise for the movie? Thoughts below as always.
