Thor: Love and Thunder: Tessa Thompson Teases The Film’s Mix Of MCU Characters

According to one insider, Valkyrie and Sif were supposed to become a couple in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie is official aboard the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. Her character is set to be the ruler of Asgard. Thompson has made Valkyrie one of the most popular characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Coming to the attention of fans in the stellar Thor: Ragnarok, she also appeared as the character in Avengers: Endgame.

Thompsons recently spoke to The Playlist, and let lose what information she could on the upcoming film. You can check out what she had to say below.

“Yeah. I can tease that she’s definitely King of New Asgard when we find her. And as was the case in the last four, I would say that she’s a part of an adventure that involved Thor, in the sense that it’s called Thor: Love and Thunder. And I’d say there’s some cool stuff going on. We have some new characters; we have some folks potentially from other pockets of the MCU. And then we have some folks, maybe, that we’ve seen before.”

Valkyrie was a total badass in the film. Thor made an excellent, if not the only choice to be the next ruler of Asgard. The film is shaping up nicely. From what Thompson had to say above it appears as if we’ll get a nice mix of characters. Waititi revitalized the Thor franchise with 2017’s Ragnarok and I am very excited for his sophomore MCU effort.

Natalie Portman is set to take over the hammer duties from Chris Hemsworth and adopt the mantle of The Mighty Thor.

It was recently revealed that Christan Bale will be playing a rather new addition to the Marvel family (making his debut in the comics in 2012) in Gorr the God Butcher. The dude has a seriously messed up backstory and Bale should have a field day with the character. I for one am anxious to see how the directing style of Taika Waititi will mesh with Bale’s incredibly dark villain.

The film currently has a release date of May 6, 2022.
