There are countless elements that are required to make a good movie. If you look at the credits, it’s clear that there are often hundreds and hundreds of hands that are in the pot in a film’s overall creation. And yet, even some of the best handiwork out there from some of the greatest talents in the industry can’t fix the chemistry between two actors.
In 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, audiences got to see actors Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson strut their stuff on screen together for the first time, and it was very clear that the two had great chemistry — so good, in fact, that it appears that it actually helped the two of them lock down their jobs at Sony for Men in Black: International, the reboot of the Men in Black franchise, as producer Walter F. Parkes revealed to EW:
“The first three pictures are very dependent on Will and Tommy’s particular chemistry and on the comic approach that Barry brought. So we knew we needed performers with these vivid personalities and an inherent rapport, and luckily we could see the seeds of that in Thor.”

Well, they lucked out that the two were available and within their budgetary range for the movie. Sadly, we have yet to see much of that chemistry on screen. That first trailer started off promising but the second half ended up being little more than a sizzle reel. Hopefully we’ll be able to see some of those sparks in the second trailer soon enough!
