Timothy Zahn Was Just As Surprised As Fans Were By The Thrawn Name Drop In The Mandalorian

All long time ago, in a galaxy not so far away, Star Wars fans had a series of novels that continued the saga. At a time when, as far as fans knew, there wouldn’t be any more Star Wars films, Author Timothy Zahn brought fans Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command, known collectively as The Thrawn Trilogy. And were widely considered to be as an official continuation as fans would get, unofficially.

The original ‘7,8, and 9.’

This is of course before Disney bought the franchise for $4.5 billion. And the Mouse would have been wise to adapted these books to film or at least allow them to heavily influence their sequel trilogy. As we all know this did not happen, but it probably should have. However, Disney has snagged the villain of the novels, Grand Admiral Thrawn, and first made him a part of the animated series Star Wars Rebels. And now, has revealed plans to bring the character into live-action on the Disney Plus series, The Mandalorian.

Zahn, even having created the character was not aware of the plan. The author heard about Ahsoka Tano asking the whereabouts of Admiral Thrawn from fans on his Facebook page. You can check out what Zahn had to say about it below.

I must say I am enjoying this new trend. f that’s even what it would be called at this point, but we do have two characters from other mediums becoming live-action realities. Granted Thrawn hasn’t shown up yet, but it seems more than likely he will. And since Thrawn was last seen in the company of the young Jedi Ezra Bridger, if Ahsoka does find Admiral Thrawn, we just may see a live-action Ezra as well.

Who would you cast as the live-action Grand Admiral Thrawn? Let us know in the comments down below!
