As should be a surprise to no one when it comes to a film that has Michael Bay as a producer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is going to be BIG. How big? IMAX Big!
Word has broken that the Jonathan Liebesman-directed Ninja Turtles reboot is coming to IMAX, and we’ve got the overseas release date- with an announcement pending for when we can lay our eyes on the turtles in their IMAX glory stateside. The foreign IMAX release date is locked in at August 8th.
Here’s the official press release:
“IMAX Corporation, Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes today announced that the highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, starring Will Arnett and Megan Fox, will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX format and released by Paramount into select international IMAX theatres starting August 8.
In this modern-day iteration of the popular franchise that has captivated audiences of all ages for decades, the Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett) to save New York City and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.
Based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman, with a screenplay by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec and Evan Daugherty, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is produced by Michael Bay (director and executive producer of the blockbuster Transformers franchise), Andrew Form, Bradley Fuller, Galen Walker, Scott Mednick, and Ian Bryce, and directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans).”
I’ve got to admit. I’m cautiously optimistic here. The trailers look like fun. I may check this one out willingly!
