Venom producer Amy Pascal recently sat down with Fandango and gave some interesting news for superhero fans. More specifically the news is related to the VenomVerse. The star of Venom, Tom Hardy is returning to Venom 2. Fans of Hardy’s madcap performance will be looking forward to his follow up. Grossing over $800 million dollars is a sure-fire way to guarantee your star returns for the sequel.
Speaking on the topic, Pascal said, “I can say that Tom Hardy will be back, magnificently playing that character as no one else can.” On what attributed to the wild success of Venom ($855 million at the global box office), Pascal said, “It’s a couple of things. One of them is that Sony did a great job creating that franchise and giving it a life and giving it its own world. Then there’s Tom Hardy. When you think of Venom, you’ll never be able to think of anyone but Tom Hardy sitting in that bathtub of lobsters. And once you saw Tom Hardy do this character, that’s all you needed to know.”
Pascal was also asked about the possibility of seeing Hardy and Holland crossover. On that subject, Pascal said “Everybody would love to see that. You never know someday… it might happen.” And she went on to say “We have big plans for Tom Holland to be a part of everything,”
Does that mean we will one day see a Spidey-Venom team up or battle? One can hope. With the success of the Spiderverse and Venom, producers are surely looking to cash in on the success and massive payday a crossover might have. I do hope the sequel improves over the shortcomings in Venom. Don’t get me wrong, I dug the whole bromantic comedy between Eddie and the symbiotie, but there was more to be desired in the action category.
