The Marvel Cinematic Universe has had some of the biggest surprises in cinema history. These surprises are kept under wraps through creative methods such as not allowing cast members to read an entire script, giving script pages on the day of filming, and even filming fake scenes to keep the actors guessing. However, Tom Holland (and Mark Ruffalo) have had a habit of letting some secrets out. This happens enough that it was rumored Tom Holland has to do interviews with other people from his movies so that he can check with them if he’s allowed to speak on a certain topic.

It turns out that rumor about a handler for interviews may be wrong, and that he’s kept quite a few secrets. Kevin Feige told Empire that Holland has actually kept quite a few secrets:
“The truth is that Tom is amazing, and has kept a lot of secrets. About the two-millionth time it came up about him being terrible with secrets, he came up to me and said, ‘You know, I _do_ keep a lot of secrets…’ I know, but it’s a thing now, a fun thing, so let’s lean into it. And he’ll go off and spoil something else. We did not take any special measures for Tom or Mark Ruffalo, who has a tendency to let his phone record at all times and all places. But they’re also both so lovely that you can’t get that mad.”
As for leaning into it, Holland revealing the Infinity War poster “by accident” was one of the obviously planned bits of leaking. Ruffalo, who famously stated during an interview with Good Morning America “wait until you see this next one, everyone dies”, is a different story though. In that interview, you can hear where he almost says the word “half” which would have spoiled Thanos’ success. I would think it a safe bet to assume he has a handler now, especially during live interviews. If not a handler, he must be kept in the dark more or kept on a strict public script. Most of us assumed people would die in Infinity War, but I really didn’t know if Thanos would get to snap or not.
