Tom Holland Describes Where Peter’s Head Is At In Spider-Man: Far From Home

The next MCU movie to web sling its way in theaters is Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 2nd. Peter Parker will begin that film having just come through the climactic events of Avengers: Endgame, where he was resurrected from the dead, only to have some more tragic heartbreak on the way.

We already know that Spider-Man: Far From Home is the capstone of Phase 3 of the MCU, and will heavily deal with the aftermath of the events portrayed in both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. Peter and what appears to be the majority of his closest classmates were all snapped out of existence in Infinity War and then brought back through great sacrifice in Endgame, along with half of the people on planet Earth, who have essentially missed the last five years.

Slashfilm recently sat down with Peter Parker himself Tom Holland to discuss his upcoming second Spider-Man solo movie, and they asked Holland what Peter’s headspace is like in this movie.

“Love. He’s very much love-driven in this film, and taking a break. This film is all about him trying to take a break, but the responsibility of being Spider-Man always taking over. Which is quite funny, because in the first film we were really keen to show Peter Parker enjoying his powers and really wanting to be Spider-Man. Now we have Peter Parker, who still loves the aspects of Spider-Man, but just needs a break, just needs a holiday like everyone does at times, and that’s not possible when you’re a superhero and you have responsibilities to save lives. So it’s an interesting balance of kind of watching a kid do his homework. That’s kind of how I’m describing it.”

Let’s face it, Peter is supposed to be what, 15 or 16 years old, and what do most boys that age think about? Yes, girls or other boys depending on their sexual orientation. Spider-Man thought he was in love with Liz Allen in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but of course, that relationship was destined to fail. We closed that movie with Michelle being referred to as MJ, signaling that she would be the future love interest of Peter Parker. From what we have seen in the trailers for Far From Home, it looks like Pete is chasing MJ to be his new squeeze and that she will also discover who he really is at some point.

Peter won’t be getting the quiet holiday in Europe that he was hoping for, as we know Nick Fury will show up and entangle Spider-Man in a new world-threatening crisis. Will this hurt his chances with MJ, or will peril throw them together as so often happens in movies?
