This year’s Tomb Raider will bring a new side of Lara Croft non-gamers have never seen before. While the Lara Croft we saw in the Angelina Jolie films was experienced, cool, and effortlessly badass, this new one will be wet behind the ears and a little bit more nuanced — at least that’s the hope.

The first trailer we received for the film was a bit lacking in that nuance, and it was also lacking in that more hard-edged survival instinct that the character had to give in to in the rebooted game series. However, with today’s upcoming trailer, perhaps we’ll get to see some of that?

In the latest tease for that trailer, we essentially get a bit of a sizzle reel of some footage from the flick. Admittedly, if I was looking for the Lara Croft I saw in those games, this still isn’t quite it, as the trailer seems to be a lot of style over substance. Rather than have the confidence to sell it as a survival story, they’re really laying the action-heavy elements on thick. While this can still result in a fun movie, I certainly hope they don’t take away from some of the character stuff the game was able to bring.
