Toy Story 4 Cracks $1 Billion Worldwide

While their latest acquisition, 20th Century Fox, doesn’t seem to be doing so well for the House of Mouse, Disney itself appears to be doing pretty damn well. When it comes to crafting a blockbuster, there’s no one else out there that does it better. Seriously. Statistically speaking, six of the top 10 highest-grossing movies of all-time came from Disney, and while their animated fare aren’t in the top 10 of all-time, they do well for themselves.

Of course, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios are largely to thank for that, with both of them seriously being on a consistent roll these days. Now, they have another one of their movies to add to the billion-dollar club.

Toy Story 4 has just crossed the billion-dollar threshold to become the fourth Pixar movie ever to do so. Additionally, it is the fifth movie this year alone to hit the milestone from Disney. As such, it finds itself in company Avengers: Endgame, The Lion King, Captain Marvel, and Aladdin. It also finds itself alongside the Sony-released Sony Pictures film Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is the sixth movie to break a billion this year.

In terms of the overall franchise, it’s coming in a close second so far, with Toy Story 3 inching ahead with $1.067 Bn. Will it manage to usurp its predecessor? Given its current projection, I’d be surprised if it did. Regardless, it’s another big win for Disney and Pixar.
