Behold the first teaser for Disney’s Live-Action remake of Aladdin. This will be the third of Disney’s Live-Action remakes of some of their most famous animated movies following Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast. Aladdin is directed by Guy Ritchie from a script by Ritchie himself and John August.

As with all teaser trailers we don’t have too much to go on here, no glimpses of Will smith as the Genie yet, which I am sure is what we are all waiting to see. But so far I know several of my LRM colleagues have said they can’t wait to see this when it hits theaters.
The movie stars Mena Massoud as the title character alongside Naomi Scott, Will Smith, Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen and Numan Acar.
Aladdin was first announced in October 2016 and principal photography began in September 2017 and lasted until January of this year. Aladdin will hit US screens on May 24th next year.
Whilst Aladdin is a remake of the Oscar-winning 1992 animated film, it is also based on the classic Arab folktale of the same name from One Thousand and One Nights and the French interpretation by Antione Galland. The original animated movie famously starred the late Robin Williams in the role of the Genie, and that performance was really the cornerstone of the whole movie. So there is a bit of pressure on Will Smith as he voices the character in this version of the film.
What have you thought of Disney’s live-action remakes so far? They certainly look set to continue given the current popularity with audiences. Share any thoughts you have in the usual place below.
