During the season finale of Fox’s Empire last night, a trailer aired for a new series coming soon for the network. The series is called Wayward Pines, and it’s executive produced by M. Night Shyamalan. Now, before you roll your eyes at the mention of his name, I suggest you check out the spot below:

Looks pretty good, no? Watching it, my mind went to places like Silent Hill (the games), The Village, and The Walking Dead. I think it has serious potential. I won’t know, of course, because I don’t watch network TV. But I’m sure I’ll hear about it if it is!

(My policy with anything on network television is that I won’t even consider it until two seasons are in the can and a third is on the way. The leashes are so short on the networks that I refuse to invest in anything until I know it’s got legs and won’t be cut short in the middle of its run leaving me unfulfilled.)

But one interesting question coming out of this, and this is just a musing of mine, since I haven’t dug into it yet:

Will Terrence Howard be able to do this and Empire

They’re both on Fox, and aren’t meant to air at the same time of year, so I suppose they can figure it all out if Pines gets picked up.

Either way, Wayward Pines looks like it could be pretty good. What say you?
