J.K. Rowling may have made her name with the Harry Potter series, but in the time since she’s closed the book on his story, she’s opened up another in the form of her adult Cormoran Strike novels. So far, she has released three volumes of the gritty detective series, The Cuckoo’s Calling, The Silkworm, and Career of Evil, and the whole batch have since been adapted to the C.B. Strike series.
C.B. Strike — which aired last year as Strike in the U.K. — stars Tom Burke as Cormoran Strike, a physically-scarred war vet-turned private investigator. Armed with only his wits, instincts, and assistant Robin (played by Holliday Grainger), the series follows his struggling business and the cases that come across his desk.
Cinemax just released a brand-new trailer for the show, and while it may not turn any Harry Potter fans onto the series, fans of the books, as well as mystery fans, in general, will likely find a whole lot to like here. The trailer also reveals the Cinemax airdate of June 1 of this year.
Admittedly, this is a bit of a bummer, as the series was set to premiere on HBO. However, it was decided at some point that the series would make a greater impact on Cinemax, so the president of both networks decided to shift it over. As someone who currently has an HBO Now subscription, and who hasn’t watched Cinemax for well over 15 years, I am oh-so-deeply bummed.
