After LAIKA’s announcement that it’ll team up with Annapurna, there’s plenty excitement for this stop-motion animation company.
The studio has brought us Caroline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls and most recently Kubo and the Two Strings. The animation and storylines for their films are highly critically praised.
LAIKA’s president and CEO Travis Knight will be busy on the promotional circuit with Paramount Pictures’ Bumblebee as the director. The press release stated the voice cast will be led by Hugh Jackman (The Greatest Showman, Wolverine), Zoe Saldana (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover). Chris Butler (ParaNorman) will return to helm this next project for LAIKA.
Despite it’s recent announcement, LRM Online caught up with Travis Knight on the red carpet at CinemaCon. We asked for an elaboration and more comment on this fifth project.
He asked us to stay tuned in the next few days and teased us more about the film:
“It’s a film we’ve been working on for some time. We haven’t announced its title yet. We haven’t got into the synopsis on what it is yet. It’ll be coming in very, very soon within a number of days I think. It’s a beautiful film. It’s very, very moving. It’s funny. It’s smart. It’s exciting. It’s an adventure. I’m really excited to share it with the world. We have a few more days to wait before we can really talk about it. We’re just getting the ball rolling. I think people are going to love it. It’s something special for us.”
You can catch the rest of the interview with Travis Knight about Bumblebee later this week on LRM Online. In the meantime, watch our interview clip below:
