The Bourne franchise is one of the biggest franchises since it came on to the scene with Matt Damon with The Bourne Identity in 2002. With a few movies in the franchise with 2016’s Jason Bourne as the latest and even counting Jeremy Renner’s The Bourne Legacy, the Robert Ludlum fans didn’t have enough of this Bourne universe.
USA Network will premiere its newest television show Treadstone, which will follow multiple sleeper agents from the top-secret black-ops program. The ten-episode television series will star Gabreille Scharnitzky, Jeremy Irvine, Hyo-Joo Han, Tracy Ifeachor, Emilia Schule, Michael Gaston and Michelle Forbes. The series is created by Tim Kring (Heroes, Heroes Reborn).
LRM Online spoke on the phone with producer Ben Smith, who also produced the films Jason Bourne and The Bourne Legacy. We were eager with the tie-ins between the television show and the movie franchise.
Smith indicated in previous interviews the television show and movie franchise will be in the same shared universe. But, don’t expect crossovers.
He explained, “We’re telling stories. Is there anything planned today to tie in specifically directly [with the films]. No. There isn’t. We are telling a story within the world. It’ll be concurrent and make sense. Is there a specific tie-in plans today in terms of an actual crossover? No, there’s not.”
There you go. There will be no Jason Bourne or Aaron Cross into the Treadstone TV show at this time.
As for a rumored Bourne 6 film in development, he would not comment on that. It sounds like only the secret black-op agency could pry that information from him.
The full interview with producer Ben Smith for USA Network’s Treadstone will be published on Monday next week.
The first episode of Treadstone will air on USA Network next Tuesday, October 15. Check your local listings.
