It’s no surprise that a Netflix series has gotten so much positive attention — it’s been a few years since Netflix got into the TV series game, and in that time, they’ve certainly made a name for themselves. What is kind of a surprise with one of their most recent series, Stranger Things, is how much it has embedded itself into the pop culture zeitgeist.
More than any non comic book-related show I’ve seen, it’s become the subject memes, theories, re-enactments, fan edits, and everything in between. As a show that is one long love note to 1980s pop culture and media, it seems fitting that the series would become a huge part of pop culture itself, and it’s led to some pretty cool products.
The first is an 8-bit re-enactment of the show created from the folks at CineFix, made with the intent of digging deeper into that ’80s nostalgia.
Check it out below!
The next video isn’t quite so meta as the 8-bit one, but pretty cool, nonetheless. If you’re a fan of the ’90s Joss Whedon series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, you may appreciate this opening set to that very theme.
These aren’t the first pieces of fan content to come from Stranger Things, and given the upcoming seasons, it’s doubtful that they’ll be the last.
