Some news that the Two Rivers set is being rebuilt for The Wheel of Time Season 3. Whilst we still await a premiere date for Season 2, production on the third season is ramping up. Noted by WOTSeries, there have been numerous images posted online of the sets being rebuilt in the Czech Republic. The buildings have the same design as was used in Season 1 for the Two Rivers. When we last left the Two Rivers it had recently been attacked by Trollocs looking for The Dragon, so the previous set was burned down and destroyed. The link above has some set images we cannot share, however, it’s just bits of wood and nothing exciting to look at to be honest.

It is highly unlikely we will see the home village of the main characters in Season 2, which we await the premiere date of. Season 2 will cover Book 2 and Book 3 of the series. However we have already been told to expect Season 3 to follow more closely with Book 4. If that is the case then one of the main characters will journey back to their home and get involved in events there. I won’t get into what actually happens in this plot line for anyone who has not read the books. However I think most book fans would have assumed this would happen in Season 3 anyway.

For now, I have to say I am more excited by Season 3 than I am Season 2. That’s simply due to Book 4 being one of the best and Book 2 and 3 being is similar that they’re being merged into one season here. However I still have some hope Season 2 will work. After all, I do want to see this story finished at some point on screen.

The good news is that Season 3 is greenlit. In my opinion if the show fails to capture a big audience in Season 3, then it will be evidence Amazon chose the wrong team to adapt this story. The ratings in Season 1 for a book not anywhere close being part of pop culture before hand was good. However there remained criticisms, and it’s up to Amazon to work on these for Season 2. Since Season 3 will be where the story really explodes into life and expands exponentially. Therefore if they get that wrong and lose viewers, you would have to look at the team adapting the work.

Let’s hope showrunner Rafe Judkins makes the most of an increased budget for these next two seasons.
