Umbrella Academy Season 4 Teaser Trailer And Synopsis

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 teaser trailer and synopsis is here for the final season of the Netflix show.

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 teaser trailer and synopsis is here for the final season of the Netflix show. Season 3 left the Hargreeves family in an alternate timeline where their father Reginald seems to control a global corporation which dominates the planet. Additionally, the gang all had lost their powers when we last saw them. However, as you can see from the teaser below, it looks like that doesn’t last long.

I’m not going to break down everything in the trailer as there would be too much to cover. Like, why is Alison back in the gang now after what she did in Season 3? Does Luthor no longer have the body hair, and why is he putting on an astronaut suit? Why is Lila crying and being comforted by Five?

I guess we will find out starting August 8th when the final season hits Netflix. It is also worth noting that unlike previous 10 Episode seasons, the final season has only 6 episodes.

Season 4 Synopsis

Here is that synopsis as promised in the title.

“The Hargreeves siblings have scattered after the climactic showdown at the Hotel Oblivion led to a complete reset of their timeline. Stripped of their powers, each is left to fend for themselves and find a new normal – with wildly varying degrees of success. Yet the trappings of their uncanny new world prove too hard to ignore for very long. Their father Reginald, alive and well, has stepped out of the shadows and into the public eye, overseeing a powerful and nefarious business empire. A mysterious association known as The Keepers holds clandestine meetings believing the reality they’re living in is a lie and a great reckoning is coming. As these strange new forces conspire around them, the Umbrella Academy must come together one last time – and risk upsetting the shaky peace they’ve all endured so much to secure – to finally set things right.”

So can we assume that Reginald’s goal in Season 3 was to change the timeline for his benefit, and now people are realizing this is not the correct world they should be living in? We also currently don’t fully understand what Hargreeves goal was. Has this all been simply about Reg bringing back his dead wife?

It’s also worth noting that this finale will differ from the direction the comic books are going a little. As per showrunner Steve Blackman in a previous interview.

“(Gerard) has a good sort of idea what he wants going forward,” TV series creator Steve Blackman previously told ComicBook.com. “But we’ve also got to the place where we see the tv show and the graphic novel as being somewhat symbiotic, but on their own path. My goal is not to take the show away from where he’s going with the graphic novel, but not everything translates because of money. Sometimes it’s just so weird I don’t know how we we do the tv version of it, but we’re close enough that you know, I have a good sense of where he’s going and I love to sort of use as a springboard or the inspiration for ours. So we never want to be on our own path without Gerard and Gabriel’s influence in the show.”

I’ve never read the comics, but I’m excited to see how this story will conclude. Umbrella Academy isn’t my favourite show, but it’s a good show that I’ll happily keep watching.
