According to the latest Barside Buzz, Val will not appear in Captain America: Brave New World, which is now less connected to Thunderbolts. By Val, of course I mean Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus in only a few cameo roles so far. We’ve known for some time that Val is a key a component within Thunderbolts. However, it was also rumored the character was set to be involved in Brave New World as well. It always seemed like those two movies were like two peas in a pod, but perhaps no longer?
Take a look at the information below, initially from CWGST.

Fellow insider MTTSH then followed up with some more information after questions were asked. Seemingly once new Thunderbolts writer Lee Sung Jin came on aboard, there were less connections between the two movies.
Thunderbolts and Cap 4 were more tightly connected until he came on board and changed some plot elements. https://t.co/KN1RqbSwmp

It’s kinda hard to have any kind of opinion on this one. I mean, is this good news, bad news or whatever? That may well be subjective, but I will say this. Rumors were not positive around the story of Thunderbolts. Most of the best insiders have said they didn’t think much of what they had heard. However, this was all pre- Lee Sung Jin and therefore perhaps he will make improvements?

I guess all we can really hope for is two good movies, that feel as if they have an effect on one another. Barring a major surprise you’d expect Harrison Ford’s ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross to show up in Thunderbolts, and we know he’s a major players in Brave New World. Ergo, there does have to be some connection here, even if it’s less prominent than it once was.
The less connected some of these Marvel projects have felt, the less well they’ve done with audiences. Or at least, that’s a common criticism of Marvel post-Endgame that I have seen online and would agree with.
