Venom 2: Andy Serkis Directed Sequel Set To Begin Filming This November

Venom: Let There Be Carnage Runtime Is Only 90-Minutes

With all the talk recently of Spider-Man and the split between Sony and Marvel, everyone is very focussed on only one aspect of the Sony-owned Marvel IP’s. However, we have known for some time that Venom 2 was moving ahead regardless and would be directed this time around by Andy Serkis, probably most famous for being on the other side of the camera.

Now thanks to the ever-reliable Production Weekly we can say that Venom 2 is set to go under cameras on November 25th, although no filming location was listed. The first Venom movie was of course set in San Francisco, and it looks as though Eddie Brock is sticking around northern California again for the sequel. The site reports that the movie is going under the production title of ‘Fillmore’, which in the real world was a historic music venue in San Francisco, a good clue that the sequel will be set in the same city.

RELATED: RUMOR: Sony Offered Disney New Deal For Spider-Man In MCU

The only thing I am slightly surprised by is that they didn’t delay things slightly until everything is resolved with Spider-Man. Would it make sense to just make Venom as it is now without starting to at least sow the seeds of Spider-Man? Going by a rumor yesterday which stated Sony and Disney were still negotiating, who knows? I do think that this version of Venom needs some serious readjustment and connectivity to Spider-Man if both these universes are about to collide successfully, and the sooner it begins the better. Saying that, maybe the lack of Spider-Man integration is a good thing for those of us with hope a deal can still be struck between Disney and Sony over Spidey in the MCU?
